PRACTICING CHRISTIANITY
"Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity." These are the haunting words of Jesus Christ contained in the book of Matthew, chapter 7, verses twenty-one through twenty-three. These verses contain one of the gravest, saddest prophecies in the entire Bible, and one that should make all professing Christians take note to make their salvation sure.
People are a strange creation. At our workplaces, we know of people who claim the privileges and rights of being God's children, based on attendance of a local church body; based on the fact there is a Bible on their desk; based on the fact they believe a God exists. Woe unto us who believe acknowledging God is enough! The devils also believe and tremble! Those professors of the Christian faith who profane God's holy name with profanity, deceit, double dealing, cheating, idolatry and hardened hearts need beware lest they stand before a holy and righteous God--the God who knows the hearts and actions of all men--and hear those fateful words spoken from Christ, "Depart from me, I know you not."
Millions of Americans profess the name of God and lay claim to the promised inheritance of His holy Kingdom of Heaven, but many of those millions are lying themselves into a destiny of hell. Could this be what Christ meant when He said, "For many are called, but few are chosen"? Christ's salvation is open and available for all to secure. The calling has been issued to all men and women, but few grasp the true faith that leads a soul into heaven. "Enter ye in at the strait gate, for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it."
Our churches are packed with people that enjoy good singing, good fellowship, good activites and the feel-good experience that can be found in so many of our churches today, but many enjoy these things while oblivious to the fact they are on the wide path to a fool's hell. Remember the key to finding true salvation--they that do the will of the Father will find the Kingdom of Heaven. God doesn't want us to serve Him with our lips and not with our hearts! In the book of Mark chapter seven, verse six, Christ called the Pharisees hypocrites for doing just that, stating in verse seven that they worshipped Him in vain by teaching the commandments of men as doctrines of God.
God is tired of this lip-service being paid to Him by so many professors of Christianity. Sitting in a church, whether it be Baptist, Catholic, Methodist or Presbyterian; whether it be in this country, in Europe, Asia or Australia; whether it be full of people with a staff of pastors, or a small community church with few workers at all, thinking your eternal destination is ok because you are going to church, or carry a Bible, without striving to live a lifestyle consecrated to the Holy God, dedicated to trying to live unto Christ as He died unto us, is a foolish abomination unto God that will be avenged by Him in the judgment to come! Thinking you have bought the favor of the Father by giving so much money to the church, working the church bingo and festivals, or gracing God with your presence in church on special occasions such as Christmas and Easter is the blind man's folly of walking down an unfamiliar path with no hope of knowing where he is going, or where he has been.
The Bible clearly teaches us to be doers, not hearers only of the Word! The Bible clearly teaches us that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God! The Bible clearly teaches Jesus Christ is the truth, the way, and the light, and that no man can come unto the Father except through the Son. Repent!! The clearest message of John the Baptist and Jesus Himself is repentance, the sincere repentance of the heart that teaches us we cannot save ourselves, but that we have need of salvation from the hell to come; the repentance that teaches us that Christ died on the cross for our sins, and rose from the grave to defeat our penalty; the repentance that teaches us we are to dedicate our lives to living for and serving the One that did these things for us as individual creatures of God the Father. Analyze your spiritual condition, ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins by His blood, and dedicate your life to living for the One that died for you.
